Con motivo del Día para la Erradicación de la pobreza
La Alianza Española contra la Pobreza ha organizado una semana de movilizaciones para reivindicar que la lucha contra la pobreza sea uno de los primeros compromisos de los políticos.
Bajo el lema únete a la Rebelión, cientos de plazas y calles españolas acogerán las acciones formativas, lúdicas y reivindicativas para concienciar a la población con motivo del 17 de octubre, Día Internacional para la Erradicación de la Pobreza.
En un contexto en el que la crisis está teniendo gravísimas consecuencias para las personas más vulnerables y en el que se están recortando servicios sociales, debemos redoblar los esfuerzos globales en la lucha contra la pobreza.
Más de 1.400 millones de personas sufren pobreza extrema y casi 1.000 millones sufren hambre. Este año pasará a la historia como el año en el que además del hambre sistémica se declaró la primera hambruna del siglo XXI y que afecta a casi 13 millones de personas en el cuerno de África.
Por todo ello, desde la Alianza Española contra la Pobreza exigen al gobierno español y a los gobiernos locales:
· El cumplimiento del Pacto de Estado Contra la Pobreza, suscrito por todos los partidos, que incluye alcanzar el 0’7 para ayuda al desarrollo antes de 2015.
· Garantizar el cumplimiento de los derechos humanos y el derecho a un trabajo decente
· Reflexionar sobre nuestro modelo actual de producción y consumo, y reforzar los valores de solidaridad, igualdad y justicia.
· Revisar las políticas comerciales de la Organización Mundial del Comercio y de la Unión Europea para que no impongan acuerdos perjudiciales a los países del Sur y que se revise la deuda externa.
· Apoyar la creación de un impuesto a las transacciones financieras internacionales, la eliminación de los paraísos fiscales y perseguir la evasión fiscal, para reducir la desestabilidad y la pobreza.
· Que se adopten las medidas necesarias para luchar contra el cambio climático y se garantice la sostenibilidad ambiental
